resolving.

i'm not sure i've mentioned it before on the bloggity blog, but i actually HATE new years resolutions. i hate publicly declaring goals because when i fail {i saw when because i'm a victim of temptation and laziness}, i feel like a big loser. there's just so much accountability. first world problems, right?

but alas, here i am, on the third day of the year ready to roll out the list of goals i've mentally prepared. are you ready? i'm hoping to check back in a few weeks to see how i'm doing. and i'll be surprised if i'm still trucking along.

1. be more grateful for my circumstance. regardless of what it is.
a lot of bad happens in my life, but so does a lot of good. throughout it all,
i just want to remember that i am never alone, i don't have to face anything without my
Heavenly Father and His protection all around me, and that my question shouldn't be "why me?",
but "why NOT me?"

2. seriously, stop being fat.
granted, the last two years have been spent creating, birthing, and feeding babies.
but i am in TOTAL control of what i put in my body. i want to cut the crap out.
i want to love exercise again. i want to drop 20lbs. i want to feel good in my clothes.
which leads me to...

3. buy clothes that fit. stop it with the maternity stuff.
i guess as some sick form of punishment, i've been wearing maternity jeans
since getting pregnant with austin. i figure, why treat myself to new clothes if i'm just going
to stay a fat slob. well, stop it. i bought a pair of non-maternity skinny jeans...THAT FIT. and
instantly felt better. i also bought new bras after being re-sized {CAN YOU BELIEVE I'M A 32G! A G!!} and see that when my boobs are in the right place {and not hanging down near my belly button} i look FAR less overweight. lol. so treat yourself every now and then, but don't be satisfied with your jean size...make that number go down!

4. make 2012 the year of the green smoothie.
ever since trying these smoothies in class, i've been hooked. they taste PHENOMENAL and are so easy and cheap to make. we buy a lot of fresh fruits and veggies anyway, so this has been so easy to integrate into my life. and how can you not love something as easy as leafy greens- fruit- and water?! i want to drink one every day, in the morning at least. it's been a great replacement for breakfast so far.

5. be more passionate.
whether in love, parenting, faith, photography, music, blogging, whatever.

6. be involved.
no matter how "down" i feel. i need to get off my lazy arse and DO something.
working with others, connecting, and helping other people makes me feel better
and it makes the world a better place. so get on it lazybones.

7.  drink more water.
because you used to like it.

8. let go of grudges, pain, and hurt.
it prevents me from moving forward. and Lord knows, i need to move forward.

9. do something crazy.
pierce something. get another tattoo. go ahead and get that ombre look with your hair.
let pinterest be your guide. and just go NUTSO.

Happy New Year, y'all.

  1. I really like your resolutions, and I think you are beautiful, inside and out. I love your braids, your noise ring, and you have a really pretty smile. I started to really follow your blog, because you seem driven, and a busy body. I laugh the post at your epic moments with the kids, and hubby. (like the video of all yah dancing)

Any way, what I'm trying to say in a nutshell, is that you are wonderful. And I know you can make all these things happen. Post as you go, and you will see you have support. :)

    ~HAPPY NEW YEAR!

  2. Sounds like you have some really great goals there. Sending you lots of prayer and positive vibes because I know that you can achieve them all. It won't be easy but it'll be worth it.

PS-I'm so with you on falling back in love with exercise and ditching the maternity wear!
