The one where she called my bluff....

So you know how I had mentioned before about deciding my own due date? Well you see, my daughter thought it'd be far more appropriate to run things her way.

I always joke that it's The Kiranda Show! (in fact, that's what my myspace name was), but Bella has made it clear that this is The Bella B show and I need to take a backseat!

Short story summed up (and it really is a short story!!)...Bella made her arrival last night at 9:24pm! She's currently in the NICU (as she was born at 34wks2dys), but the docs all agree she's kicking butt and taking names! They obviously have to monitor her there but anticipate she won't be there long!

When I went to see and hang out with her, she was grasping my finger, sucking her tongue and chillin out. She's breathing perfectly on her own and has only had slightly low blood pressure...like her mama.

She looks like a little old woman...(my babies are old souls I tell ya) and has Charlie's fingers, toes and hairline and my nose and lips! She's a lot more fatty than her brother, despite being a few ounces smaller than him at birth.

Im recovering awesomely and hope to take my baby girl home soon!! I'm pumping to get my milk going and so far so good! I can't wait to feed her!! Look for a birth story soon!!! Trust me, it's kind of hilarious!

whatever whatever, i do what i want. :P

i've just come to the realization that i am a big ole' brat. lol  well not really...let me explain.

when i found out i was pregnant with B, it came at a time when we weren't truly expecting it. in fact, if you remember, i started freaking out because hubs and i hadn't been *ahem* intimate for awhile but when i looked back and added it all up, i figured i probably was pregnant. eep!

the way our OB care works, if you know when your last menstrual cycle was or when the baby was conceived, then you get a due date and that's that. you get one [ONE, friends] ultrasound at twenty weeks and you better pray your baby opens those legs to see a gender, otherwise you'll pay out of pocket or be SOL when it comes to figuring out whether you need hairbows and ruffles or trainsets and tennis shoes.

in any case, i lied and said i didn't know how far along i was. and technically, i didn't know. i was still EBFing so i wasn't having periods, but i did know which two days she'd been conceived. by those days, i'd calculated that she was due at the end of may. the twenty-seventh or twenty-eighth, to be exact. but according to their ultrasound, i was due june first.

well friends. i've gone long enough doing things their way. tonight- i've decided to go by my OWN due date. lol. well not my own, just the date based on her conception. of course that's not to say they were wrong or anything, but i tend to have small babies so they measure younger in utero anyway.

so. as of today. i am 34wks and 6 days pregnant. tomorrow will be my 35/35 day. wicked, right?!

now, show of hands: who thinks i'm a brat?! lol

two clicks for mommyhood?!

i'm a pregnant hypochondriac.

i think i have a problem, y'all.

[beware: there's tmi's in this post]

i denied it for several days, but really i was in labor last week. and some people get excited, but really- it's not a good thing. you see, i'm still in the EARLY baking stage. i'd like to keep her in for just a few more weeks. according to my due date, i need three more weeks. but according to when she was conceived, i'll be safe in exactly two weeks. [more on that later.]

so anyways.

now that i'm home and not in the hospital, but still on bedrest...i keep feeling like i'm going to go into labor at. any. moment. like everything is freaking me out. [here come those tmi's...] take for example, the start and stop of my contractions. i'll have steady contractions all night, but as soon as i start to time them, they stop. or i'll have a ton of backache/menstrual cramping sensations....they were so bad the other night i paced my house and tossed and turned in bed for over four hours before i could get some relief. but nothing happened, obviously.

or like how your body has this sort of "elimination" system to prep you for labor. you know, cleaning out the pipes *ahem* so you don't poo on the table. [thankfully this didn't happen to me while delivering austin..lol] well y'all- i'm pooping on average twice a day. TWICE. A. DAY. i don't think i'm even eating enough to produce that much junk <----hehe. but there it is...coming right out of me. AND IT'S LOOSE!!

there's other things like tons of pressure down there in my pelvic region and sharp pains on my cervix, which i attribute to her rubbing her head down there and getting into position. and just feeling plain ole' "heavy". and gosh- can my belly get any bigger? i don't think so. it feels like it's gonna fall right off my body one of these days!!

the doc told me to come in whenever i experience any of these symptoms, but honestly- i don't want to go because i know they'll just send me home. and i don't want to chance them accidentally breaking my bag of waters or wanting to induce me or something. i'm already at 4cm with minimal work so that'll just make getting to 10 that much easier, right? although, the contrax i had last night felt like they were opening me up some more. can you imagine? being at 5cm+ when getting into active labor? oooh that'd be fantastic!

back to the point- i seriously keep thinking i'm in labor. and it's not cool. i'm always panicking because my phone is dead or charlie won't answer his phone. lol i think when it actually happens [unless my water breaks first] i'm going to think it's a joke. and speaking of water breaking, i'm so paranoid of that happening. i have towels and blankets underneath me all. the. time. i didn't get to experience that really so i'm worried about what it'll feel like if it happens on its own.

ugh. i just want the next few weeks to pass quickly so bella can put me out of my misery. because believing you're in labor when you're really not is a pretty stressful way to live, friends. pretty stressful, indeed.

thank you, body & little miss bella.

it's 10:50pm here and i think it's safe to say this:

thank you bella (and ute') for not having bella on this day.

not that there's anything wrong with this day...it's just four-twenty. the day that everyone finds it amusing to smoke pot. not that i have a real problem with pot....okay, i'm lying. i think it's just ridiculous and i would not like my daughter to be born on this day.

why so uptight kiranda, you wonder?

ugh. where do i begin?! for one- she'll never live it down. her birth date would never be just about her. it would be about a bunch of lazy douchenozzles who like to further perpetuate their laziness by smoking a plant that affects their mood and state of being. and secondly- i'm just so anti-marijuana that it would totally be a slap in the face. like my ute' would forever mock me. and third- i just don't want it. okay. *stamps foot*

i'm just not into it and i don't think there's anything wrong with thinking that.

now, don't get me wrong- i believe if we made it legal and sold it out of government run shops we'd totally abolish any and all of the national deficit. because really, people are still buying the crap. and i'm one of those "do what you want as long as i'm not forced to do it too" people. but still...it's a stupid drug and i've lost many a friend to it's ridiculousness. no, they're not dead. but they're deadbeats. it's just dumb.

so. all of this is a long- winded way of saying thank you to my uterus and to my bella.

now watch...if i go into labor in the next 60 minutes. i'm gonna be pissed.

Ok so maybe I shouldve taken it easy...

Hey hey hey! I've had to download blogpress to my phone since there is no wi-fi access here at the hospital. :( and posting from my phone alone would just be too much. Lol

So here's what's been going on:

Thursday, I went to class and was having more clusters of contractions. They'd start and stop and it was pretty annoying. I shouldve known something was up when I opted to nap through contractions rather than blog! (oh the horror!!) I took a long nap and finished my classes for the day and headed home.

My friend, Cassie, had been telling me to go to L&D for a few days now but I kept putting it off. As I've mentioned before, I'm just a few weeks out from graduation (like 6 classes each) and thought I could make it through. On the way home, I decided to just give them a call. I'd been having contractions on the ride home and by the time I parked my
car, they were coming right on top of each other and I could barely walk.

We got to triage and after three hours and a bunch of tests, it was determined that I WAS in preterm labor. My contractions were 3-4 minutes apart lasting for 60-90 minutes and definitely changing my cervix. In the two weeks since my fall, I'd dilated from 2cm to 3cm, 50% effaced and Bella had moved up to minus 3 station. But
my bag of waters was still bulging. In less than an hour, I'd progressed to 4cm (almost 5), 75% effaced and she was down to minus 2 station. At this point, there was no doubt I was getting admitted at least for the night and a few days. I had a ton of "bloody show" after all of my exams and was shaking really bad, which worried the doctors since that was indicative that my contractions were really putting in work.

I got to my room at midnight and had sent Austin to the babysitter (since we didn't know if I was having the baby or not) and Charlie went to get the necessary labor stuff (lip balm, cameras, chargers, socks, pillows and blankets). By the time he got back and settled in, I'd had a steroid shot for her lung development and had taken procardia to slow down my contractions.

The first night was pretty uneventful. I stayed on monitors and on saline to keep me hydrated. Bellas was doing fine and with all of the saline and the water/juice I was drinking (think two large big gulps every hour) I was peeing up a storm! I also had a lot, LOT of bloody show and at one point, thought I was hemorraging when my IV disconnected resulting in a large pool of blood when I went to the bathroom. I had visitors practically all day and it was just really nice to relax and not worry about much.

Hospital Stay part ii, coming up...

My Pregnancy {and it's complications} as of late...

you'd think that since i had a kid not too long ago that i would remember some of these things. or at least be a bit more prepared, right? wrong. austin was induced. in fact, i was having "productive" contractions for about a week or so and didn't even feel them. at 38 weeks, i was dilated and had a pretty awesome cervix for my induction. it did last seven hours, ya know. so really, i have no idea what spontaneous labor feels like. oh sure, i'm interested in what it feels like to have your water break randomly or to feel those contractions coming on steadily and increasing in productivity. i'd like to time them and be excited about the impending birth of my child.

but the fact is: i'm 32 weeks. [eight minutes from thirty-three]. and if this baby comes now...she'll be considered pre-term. and considering i know down to one of the two days she was conceived, i know she will be earlier than forty weeks. not only that, i'm still in school. it's really getting to crunch time because we're three weeks from the end. honestly. next week is the last week before finals. then it's finals week. then it's SOS [scores of sound], which is a week-long music fest we put on at school, and then i'm done. oh and by the way, i'm not doing my recital anymore. we're postponing it...you'll find out why further down.
so really, i can't afford to have this baby right now. i'm too close to the end game. i'm so close, i can taste graduation and freedom.

but honestly, all of these "what-if" situations are driving me nutso!

first off, i fell a couple weeks ago chasing buddy. upon visiting and chilling in L&D Triage, we discovered i'm dilated to 2, 50%effaced, and at minus 2 station. [yep..exACTly where i was when austin was induced...at 38w5d]. all of that cervical change without really doing anything. [sidenote: i think it was my sessions at the gym that brought that on rather than the fall because those contractions on the treadmill were killer].

now i know a woman can walk around for weeks at a 2 or even higher, but still. it's worrisome being that i was only 31 weeks.

yesterday, i dropped austin off at the sitter's and used the bathroom only to find my [sorry again..tmi] mucus plug in there. not the entire thing and it didn't have any blood in it, so i was only slightly worried. i called my doctor's office... [which can i say sucks because i can't even speak to my doctor. i'm only talking to people in charge of schedules and some random nurse who knows NOTHING about me other than my vitals from my file. smh] and they advised me to take it easy but not to come in because i wasn't having contractions. but if i started having them, leaking fluid, or having bad cramps to come in. so i went about my day. yes, i was having contractions but they weren't timable and i honestly didn't want to leave school to be told nothing was wrong. because, you know- i'm really close to graduating and all!

this morning, i tinkled a bit. like i really shouldn't even say i peed because there was nothing in the bowl. but when i wiped, there was a ton of yellowish mucus there. um, whoa?! i just wiped and kept going. when i got to school, the same thing. not any pee, but serious yellow mucus and my underwear were pretty damp considering i hadn't peed on myself or anything. thus starting the panicking over leaking amniotic fluid. i have no idea what it looks or smells like because my water broke right before austin was born. i was texting a friend and she suggested i call the doctor at least but really she wanted me to go in. again, i didn't want to leave school for no real good reason so i just rolled some tp and put in it my underwear and went about my day, hoping to not soak through it. well, i didn't. and i didn't really have many contractions either so i still haven't called.

i would like to go in just to see what's going on down there. obviously, i'm having contractions and losing mucus so my cervix is changing. and i'm having sharp stabbing pains down there every now and then so i know something is going on. and i'm having more than four to six contractions in two hours. not every two hours and i can even move and talk through them. some are more painful than others, but they're still contractions never the less. i don't think i'm dehydrated since i'm practically sustaining on water alone these days. i guess i'm just worried they'll tell me nothing has changed and i'll have wasted a lot of time.

don't get me wrong, i want this girl to cook at LEAST another month. but i don't want to be surprised if she comes early. i go to school over an hour away and honestly with traffic, it can take up to two hours to get to and from home. so i'm worried i'll be stranded out there and have to drive myself somewhere or that charlie won't be able to come meet me or pick me up in time. :/ i'm just nervous and really unsure of what to do. i want to stay home, but i don't want to fail, but i don't want to have a baby before 37wks.

*sigh* oh if only i could see the future...

4.02.2011

OH. and in case you were wondering...

.....

OH. And when we were on our way to the hospital, the previous owner contacted us because someone had ALREADY found Buddy and called in his microchip!

the people who found him are absolutely amazing and now i'm thinking about ideas for a thank you gift. any suggestions? they kept our new baby until noon today while i rested a bit more after coming home!!!

so far, he's adjusting incredibly well. {we have a leash/harness} and austin is SUPER in love with him.

he is seriously the perfect dog for our lifestyle. he's been cuddling all day. JUST my kind of puppo. :D

more pictures to come...

no april fools..this really happened, friends.

yesterday, i was craving Farrelli's pizza. despite the chubbah having an ear infection, we went out. he always tends to do better when we're away from the house. on the way there, i got a hair up my butt wanting a puppy...yet again. i think the hubs is used to this by now. kiranda decides she wants something and he has to talk her out of it...

except this time, i could not be swayed. i was on craigslist searching all throughout dinner and was pulling out all the stops to convince him that his reasons for not wanting a dog were completely invalid. lol

when we came home, i found THE. PERFECT. DOG. i emailed the lady and was the first one to respond. after an okay from the hubs, my girl Brandi and i headed out for an hour long roadtrip {one way} to go meet the little bugger.

this is buddy! :D

{and he's AAAAAALLLLLL mine. well, actually austin's. bc that kid fuh-reaaks when he can't hold him}

i finally bring the little guy home around 1am. he's potty trained and had been in the car the whole time so i took him outside to go potty before bed. he was off leash because the previous owner hadn't given us one but i figured: he's small, he can't get too far.... {famous last words}

we come inside and i take him to the bedroom. he jumps off the bed and heads toward the door again. i figure, "oh okay, you need to go potty again". and we head outside. THIS time, he starts marking his territory a little further away from the house. he runs across the street and i follow after him with treats. as i approach, he barks at me and takes off running towards our house. i follow him and he runs down the street. i follow him some more. i go and sit on our front porch and he comes near me, just close enough but not too close.

i lunch forward to grab him. he takes off running and stops at the edge of our lawn. i run inside and grab his bag of food and his favorite toy and go back outside just in time to see him take off running into the night.

crap. ::headdesk::

so i take off after him. i run two blocks away, in the dark...after him. and end up falling. yep. all almost eight months pregnant of me- FELL. HARD. on CONCRETE. i tripped over my feet and fell forward {and too the left}, but managed to catch myself on my hands and left knee. i did hit my belly pretty hard and had a few scratches on it too. i limped back to the house, told charlie that the dog ran away and went back outside to try and find him. i ran back the two blocks and went out a third when i encountered two SUPER LARGE raccoons. not wanting to be attacked while i was already in pain {and contracting really bad}, i limped back to where charlie could see me and he helped me back to the house.

so at this point... i've fallen. {hard} and started contracting. we still couldn't find the dog. and i hadn't felt bella move since falling. i knew i wouldn't be okay until i knew she was okay so we headed up to madigan. i felt so bad waking austin up but we couldn't just leave him home alone and we didn't feel we could or should call anyone to come over. within minutes of arriving, i was strapped to monitors and heard bella's glorious heartbeat. *whew* i felt relieved.  the docs wanted to keep me there for a few hours of observation and see how things went as time passed.

i spent about seven hours at the hospital and managed to get a decent amount of sleep. but here's what we've found out: i'm 2cm dilated, 50% effaced, minus 2 station {which is where i was when i was induced with Austin at 38wks} and my bag of waters is bulging already. we're not sure if the fall had anything to do with my cervix changing but it certainly didn't help things. in case you're not aware...i'm only 31 weeks. meaning, bella isn't in the safe zone for another 6 weeks.

*insert terrified mother here*

i'd appreciate a lot of prayers at this point. i'm not officially put on bedrest, but i'm strongly advised to take it easy. and hopefully i can rest enough so that bella doesn't show her pretty face too soon. this has prompted me to start considering what we're going to do should she come sooner. the doctors weren't talking philosophically if she comes sooner, it was more matter-of-fact. and that terrifies me...

also...it was brought to my attention that i should maybe get the steroid shot NOW to help develop her lungs should she come sooner. what do y'all think out there in the blog-o-sphere?

.....

3.24.2011

you wanna know something...

i TOTES forgot what the hubs and i had decided for Bella's middle name!

doesn't that make me the worst mama EVAR!? lol

BUT. I remembered it.

and...in case i didn't mention it on the blog...
{also it'd be great to refer back to this should i ever forget again...}

i think my daughter hates me.

you always here about the dreaded "mother-daughter" relationship. i know my own mom and i have a lot of tension between us mostly because we're so much alike and we're incredibly stubborn and headstrong. there's a lot of issues there but we won't go there. lol we always end up making up and mending our relationship without letting too much time pass.

so anyway...

i think my biggest fear with having a daughter [besides teenage pregnancy and/or something like that] is having that kind of high tension relationship. i don't want her to hate me, you know? i know i might not always say or do the right thing with her, but i don't want her to think i don't understand her or listen to her. those were major issues for me growing up.

but i'm already feeling like she hates me.

this kidlet is FIERCE. she kicks and punches and rolls and does everything she can to hurt me. i swear...lol. i literally beg her to be nice to her mommy. i don't want to compare the two, but austin wasn't nearly as mean as bella has been. lol is that horrible?

i mean...WHAT IF SHE DOES HATE ME? ugh. i'm so preparing myself for her to come out flipping me off or something horrible like that. lol.

28 weeks 5 days

and i feel super glowy lately. i'm super in ♥ with my bump, y'all. is that weird?

here's the haps on pregnancy #2:
*at last weigh in, i've gained 10.2 lbs
*i actually had to log into thebump.com to figure out how far along i am. eek.
*i've got a horrible pelvic disorder that makes everything really horrible.
*hubs and i have decided to get a birthing tub so i can labor at home comfortably.
* i have yet to buy one thing for bella. like really. i'm slacking. but once school is
over...i'm all about this baby/pregnancy/labor.
*i've been craving fruits, veggies, salty chips, and chocolate/peanutbutter combos [like reese's]
*my braxton hicks contrax are KILLER. which makes me think that actual labor might be just as quick as last time.
*i'm super excited to meet Bella, even though i'm sure she hates me already.

Thanks Pelvic Bone. And Google- for diagnosing me.

last night i couldn't sleep. we went to bed super duper early and i woke up [thanks stuffy nose] around 2am. and of course, the wheels in my head started churning. one of the things i've been constantly thinking about is how much my hips have been hurting. i'm talking MAJOR PAIN. and given my ridic high pain tolerance, i'm realizing this pain would cripple most people.

at my last OB appointment, i mentioned it to my doctor and he said that it was normal pregnancy pain. "just the body loosening up" but i'm like- hmm..this early? then he countered back with, "you didn't give your body enough of a chance to get back to normal"...which does make sense. but honestly, i wasn't having any other body issues pre-pregnancy and let's be real...austin was eight months old. it wasn't like i got knocked up six weeks post partum ya know what i mean?! but i took his diagnosis and stretches [which actually made the pain worse] and went on my merry little way.

fast forward to last night and the last few weeks...this pain is NOT normal. granted, i've never been pregnant a second time before and maybe this IS normal. but i have excruciating pain doing the SIMPLEST of tasks...[ie: putting on pants, laying down on my back, lifting one leg even two inches off the ground, etc]. so i finally broke out the iPhone and googled my symptoms.

oh trusty google...

and after reading up on what google thought i might have, i realized...BY GOLLY..GOOGLE IS DEAD ON!

Symphysis Pubis Dysfunction.  [wicked, right?]

or for the simple peeps, like me....there's an abnormal gap in your pelvic region and you're more than likely out of alignment. so when you're doing these normal, everyday activities there's pressure [that's normally there] that should be absorbed and balanced within your body...but it's not. you can read more about it HERE.

so now i'm seeking treatment. but get this: the treatments aren't covered by TRICARE so we need to fork out the money ourselves. schweet. i probably wouldn't even really seek out the help if it didn't have a chance of affecting my birth plan. see, if the gap is big enough or making my alignment way off, Bella would have a hard time getting through the birth canal...and therefore, emergency c-section. and that, is just NOT okay with me. it may be for some, but just not for me. the website linked above gave some tips on how to deal during delivery but i worry that my doctor won't let me labor and push in alternative ways.

*sigh* i'm all kinds of stressed out.

[i have to say, it's quite hard switching from baby b to bella...lol] i had an ultrasound today so they could see the rest of her spine since she was super stubborn last time. well, surprise surprise [and really, i'm not at this point. like mother, like daughter...right?] she was just as stubborn this time.

i think it's because she was sleeping. and despite all of the efforts of the tech and i [oh how i love walking up and down the corridors of the hospital], she shall not be moved until she's ready. i think it's also because austin pushes on her all of the time so she's like, "pssh lady. my brother does this and i don't turn...what makes you think i'll start now?"

in any case...she was snoozing away. and i eventually fell asleep on the table because i'd been up since three thirty... yaaaah work. then the tech came back and she'd flipped over! YAH. i got confirmation that YES. she is still a girl. [woot!]

but the tech snapped these 3D photos [which, coincidentally they told me they couldn't do 3D ultrasounds...lie much, madigan?] while waiting for Bella to wakey wakey. she put some blurry ones on my cd, but i snapped a few on my camera phone while she was busy getting confirmation for me to leave. schaweeeet!

um..is it just me or does she look CRAZILY identical to her brother? i know, i know! they're related. that's normal. but STILL. i, personally, think it's rare to see a bro/sis combo that look that much alike. mmmyea. i can't wait to get a full 3D/4D ultrasound when i'm closer to term!

my stubborn, little sweet baby b.

**I started writing this as a super long, detailed post....but I'm exhausted from running around smiling like a darn fool all day so I'm going to give you the cliff notes version.**

Arrived at my appointment 30 minutes early.
Worked on party decorations while we waited.
Called back and within minutes, saw Baby B.
Ninety minutes in, the tech had me walk up
and down the hall in hopes to turn B around to get other shots.
Ten minutes later, check.....no turnage.
No turnage = no gender reveal.
Tech turns the shots over to radiology and says she'll come back
to check on the gender in fifteen minutes.
Hubbin grabbed skittles, water, and I did some wicked cool
stretching to try and turn the baby...
[see below]

vinyasa, baby.

So let's recap:
two hours
three tries
walking and running up and down the hall
skittles
intense "stretching"
and a couple "stern" talking to's
[ie: we're not buying you ANYTHING until you show us what you are...]

SKWEEEEEE!

49% of y'all had it right!
and 2% really thought I was having an alien? you rawk!
