she brings up a good point.

if you're a mom, you've struggled with or at least heard of the argument "who has it worse: SAHMs or moms who WOTH {work outside the home}". the fact is- we ALL work. it just depends on what and where. i don't think either one has it harder than the other, not one bit. i've done them both.

i consider myself a SAHM with WOTH tendencies. lol. i am employed at a coffee shop in seattle, wa and i'm also starting to build a business. AND i'm finishing my bachelor's degree and working towards my masters degree. i won't downplay it- i'm busy. CRAZY busy. at any moment, i'm juggling and i'm not talking about my kiddos. my husband sometimes doesn't get it....maybe just because men and women think differently. i can totally multi-task and get a lot done in a short amount of time, whereas my husband can really only focus on one thing at a time. one isn't better, it's just different.

woo. so anyhoo. i saw this link on a friend's facebook and thought: "she brings up a good point!" so i bring to you, mommyhood friends....

Questions from a SAHM for a working mom

  1. When you walked into work this morning and pleasantly greeted your co-worker Jim, was his first reaction to scream “NO! WANT JASON!" followed by an office supply being thrown at you?
  2. Has a colleague ever climbed up on your lap while you were using your computer and slammed the keyboard with both fists until the up arrow no longer worked?
  3. Do you have to lock yourself in the supply closet or bathroom on a regular basis in order to make phone calls?
  4. Did you finish a complete thought at any time during the day?
  5. When you went out to lunch with your fellow workers, did you have to pack a diaper/juice/extra outfit for them? Did you have to wipe their faces? Smile an apology and leave an extra tip for the waiter on their behalf?
  6. When a co-worker needed you for something, did she sit at her desk with her head tilted back toward the ceiling and repeatedly scream “SEAN! SEEEEANNNN! SEAAAAAAN!” until you came to find him?
  7. When you needed a specific colleague, did you search all over for him, only to finally find him giggling in the cabinet under the sink? Did you also find six pairs of your church shoes under there with him?
  8. Have you had to come to an associate’s aid because she fell off her desk after trying to climb on top of it using a rolling chair?
  9. When you reached for the report a co-worker was handing you, did he snatch them away at the last second and scream “MINE!” while shoving you backwards?
  10. Does your colleague lift up her shirt and pick things out of her belly button every time she comes over to ask a question?
  11. While you are using the restroom, do various co-workers come in the stall and ask you to settle a disagreement or open a packet of fruit snacks?
  12. During a board meeting when everyone is present, do you notice a smell and then have to check all your colleagues’ pants to locate it? In fact, at ANY point in your day do you have to deal with another person's feces?

if you answered yes to any of these and you work in an office....i think you need a new job!

meet my "colleagues"...they make my life a whole heck of a lot more interesting...that's for sure!

What did the Mama tomato say to the baby tomato? KETCHUP!!

I THINK the joke goes that way. I don't really know. lol Why is it that anytime I actually TRY to be funny, it never works out? Meh.

In any case, it's time to catch-up! Where have *I* been all weekend, you ask? Working my happy butt off. LITERALLY. I've been on the go since Friday morning. Doing what? Welllllp. I had to work Friday afternoon/evening. I soooo didn't want to go back, but a girls gotta do what a girls gotta do. I gotta make money, honey. I worked from 12-6:30, which meant I was away from home from 10-8:30. Gotta love that commute, eh?  I got home and ate dinner [which the hubs and I cooked together. let's get a collective, "awwwww" going.] and then I crashed. The kiddo was fast asleep shortly after a quick bath with mommy. Gotta love it.

Saturday morning came and I got up and dressed then woke the hubs and kidlet so they could accompany me into downtown seatown and kick it with me at work. [run-on, much?] I love it when they come to work with me. My customers do as well!! They love fawning all over the babe and seeing him grow and develop. They're always asking about him so it's nice when I can say, "well he's right over THERE!" lol. The only downside to them being there was that I was horribly distracted by Austin's fussiness. He was SO. FUSSY. [has been all weekend actually] I couldn't concentrate halfway through the morning. Thankfully, I was able to step out a few times and just feed him in the back. And because breastfeeding works on "supply and demand", I'm sure I confused the HECK outta my boobies. I'd nurse him for a few minutes, then go on my pump break at my normal times, then nurse him again..*whew*. I definitely had a crazy morning.

After work, we went home for a few. I had just enough time to shower, shave, get dressed and bounce out the door to my football game. GO COLTS! It didn't matter though, I had a KILLER allergy attack and was pretty miserable the entire time. But we won, so yah us. And our halftime routine went off without a hitch. OH- did I mention that I dropped my girl, Nani, during our stunt? Yeaaaaaaa. I was embarassed. I was basing her in a one man stunt

and she's not comfortable coming down this way [see dismounts/pop cradle] with just one base, so she wanted us to walk her off, but no one was helping and my bad leg was throbbing and about to give out so I yelled that I was popping her off and did so and she landed then slipped and fell on her elbow. I felt like a jerk, for. REAL.

btw: check out this wicked cool site for common cheer terms. wicked.

I didn't get home from the game until around midnight and I CRASHED when I got in. Austin was asleep so I read Twilight in the bathtub and then pumped out a full 9oz bottle [geez..] and went to bed. Today was had a photoshoot with a new friend, Olivia Voss. She's breaking out and starting her own photography business and contacted us for a shoot for her porfolio. Of course I said YES! We were about to schedule a shoot for his 4month photos anyway, so it worked perfectly. We went out to the Seattle Arboretum and spent a few hours taking pictures of mister A. It was fun, until he got FUSSY. grrr....but I'm happy with how it turned out. I can't wait to see them and what she does with them!! PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE Check out her work! GO HERE NOW!

And now you have been caught up on my weekend! What did YOU do this weekend?
xoXo,

Weekend Recap

To follow up my last post, I managed to make it through the day. In fact, I even left early! The afternoon crew showed up at noon and were training a new girl so I called the boss and asked if I could make the bank run [for change] and then leave. Our coffee shop is small so having four people there leaves little work for everyone to do. You only need two at most anyway. Besides, splitting two hours worth of tips four ways doesn't do anything good for anyone's pocketbook! I managed to get home at two rather than leave the store at two. YAY! My little bugger, of course, was fine. He had just started fussing when I pulled up so it was nice to soothe him first thing through the door.

I've had a great weekend so far! Unfortunately, it's ending today. Later on Friday night, my sister came into town to babysit the babe and spend time with him. She's moving to the east coast to go to Howard University. SOOOO proud of her! She's gonna miss her nephew so we're working on getting as much time together as possible. I left some milk and went out with the Army gals. We had dinner at Claimjumper. It was awesome! Then after dinner, I picked up my cousin, Raufu [raw-oooh-fuh], who lives in Federal Way, and brought him over to the house. Charlie, my sister-Kirisha, her friend-Ashley, Raufu and I proceeded to have a few drinks and just chill.

Despite the fact that my cousin lives about 30 minutes away, I don't see him often! Totally our own doing- I'm just not good with making plans with people I don't see regularly. We've both been in Seattle for 5 years and the first time we saw each other on this side of the mountain was right after Austin was born.  The second was this weekend! Well I know him and Charlie get along great so we'll get together more often!

Saturday was our football game against the Ravens! The Renton Ravens dominated the league last year and went to Vegas for the championship game, so they were the team to beat! We WON! 36-20...it was such a great game! We even had some of our rival cheer squads coming to check us out. It was a great game! I didn't cheer last year because I was pregnant, and the year prior I quit midseason because the guy I was into quit too. You know, showing support. So today my body is super sore from the workout!

Tomorrow I'm starting over with Insanity. My injury derailed my progress so it's only fitting to re-start over. I'm hoping to participate in the 5k Mud Run in July going on here at Fort Lewis so I have a goal in sight. Let's see if I can do it!

That's all for now folks. I'm going to get dressed and get a manicure. Mama needs some pampering.

First Day...

First day of work where Austin isn't being watched by his Dad. Instead, his Aunty Sarah is coming over. I'm so nervous. Sarah has two kids so she's been around the block.. I just worry about my baby being a hassle for anyone else other than us. He's a pretty chill dude, but he can be a terror. And I think I'm just all around nervous because no one can love my baby as much as I can...

*sigh*

let the nail biting commence...
