Sunday Stories

I like a good story. I mean, why wouldn't I? So in connection with Jessica over at {Mis}Adventures of An Army Wife and The Annoyed Army Wife, I'm linking up. This is the story of how I lost my natural mind. I kid you not, friends. I've posted this before, but that was a long time ago and I figure what' a little more detail, right?!

How I Lost My Natural Mind: part one

I was dating this guy that I met at the internet cafe where I worked. His name is Matt. No, I'm not protecting the names of the innocent. They are the reason I'm here writing today. I'm giving you credit! He was cute. Former coast guard. He was playing hard to get. We were "together" but not "gf/bf" because he said if we put a title on it, he'd be more apt to cheat. *shakeshead* Whatever. One day we were joking around, talking about compatibility...and he says to me that we're not compatible. I laugh and say that we were, obviously...cause we're dating. He tells me about this site, Plenty Of Fish, and says to sign up there and it'll show how "not" compatible we were. I decide to play along.

Sitting next to him, both of us on our own computers, I sign up for my free account of the dating website. "Pssh...I'll show him!" was my thought process. I uploaded some pictures I'd taken recently and crafted a genius bio. One of the questions was my ideal first date. This was my response:

"so hail a taxi cab and come around here and i will meet you right outside. i've got some dvds and couple of beers. if you want to we can stay up all night. it's nothing fancy just a little couch and me and conversation for your mind. so let's explore all the possibilities of the things that we both talked about last time. take a trip to my yard. don't you know the grass is greener on the other side. take a trip to my yard. don't you know the love that you've been dreaming of is mine"

That's "My Yard' by Jamie Cullum...for more clicky on the vid below!

Soooo..long story short- it proved we WERE compatible. Of course. Didn't I just say that?

Shortly afterwards, we stopped hanging out as much. At this point, I'd logged into POF a few more times and was kind of interested. Hey- I wasn't looking for anything super serious...why not, right? At the very least, I'd go one some dates and meet some interesting guys! I talked to several guys and even went on one date with a guy in the Navy. But he was just too creepy and too eager for my taste.

There was this one guy who sent me a message. He was pretty cute. Charlie8604 was his screenname. The first picture I saw was of him and some chick [turned out to be his sister]. Only downside was that he was from Texas. Immediately, my interest waned and I put him in the friends-until-later category. He was, I'd say, the most original. His message was about cranberries, which I'd mentioned I loved in my profile description. We exchanged messages for a few minutes before I told him I was logging off and he could call me in 20 minutes. I didn't expect him too so I sent my number and logged off and went on my merry little way.

As I'm walking down from one store to another store to meet up with some friends-exactly twenty minutes later-, my phone rings. It was a Texas area code....

Stay tuned for more next week!!!
