A band/artist that has gotten you through some tough ass days. [Write a letter]
What I'm going to say may come as a shock to you, as you are hopelessly humble...You are my hero. I pretty much love everything about you. But we'll have to get into that later.
So, I'm doing this Thirty Days of Truth thing here on my blog and for thirty whole days I have to be honest. I have to let my readers know a little bit about me. I love it. Well today's post [Day 13] is to write a letter to the band/artist that has gotten me through some tough ass days.
Well M-R-A-Z, you are that artist.
Oh how can I count the ways that I love you? Your music is simply beautiful on so many different levels. It's inspiring, tongue-in-cheek, honest, open, funny, random..everything I look for in good music. Not to mention it's ridiculously creative. I love how you choose different ways to say the simplest things. One big bonus? You actually can sing. As a vocalist, I loathe hearing men who whine and scream just to get something down on a track. And don't even get me started on auto-tune and vocoder laced tracks. Your voice is straight-up beautiful. I love your tone. I love the way you shape your vowels. I love your breathing. *sigh* I just love...
Whenever I'm having a bad day, I press play on the cd player and jam out to your latest, We Sing, We Dance, We Steal Things. Not gonna lie, I even imagined writing a theatre production based on the songs on that CD. It's fun to act out in my car. You're a regular on my Ipod as well. You help me forget about the crappiness that surrounds me some days. And I thank you for that.
Some of my favorite lyrics:
"I'm holding in the heat like a fishstick"
"You can turn off the sun, but I'm still gonna shine"
"If the plane goes down, damn. But I'll remember where the love was found"
"But please don't tell her that I miss her, cause I don't"
"And eyein me down like already a bad boyfriend, well she can get her toys out of the drawer then cause I ain't comin home."
"Your comebacks are quick and probably have to do with your insecurity"
"No wonder I'm a one-woman man, she keeps my heart in a drawer on the nightstand"
"I can taste, I can taste, I can taste, I can taste you all over my face"
"And await for the warning of another come down because the water is healthy for the roses in your cheeks"
"My well holds plenty for penny wishin in your deep end"
"I'm just a curbside prophet with my hand in my pocket and I'm waiting for my rocket to come"
"Do you ever wonder what happens to the words that we send. Do they bend, do they break from the flights that they take and come back together again with a whole new meaning"
So thank you Jason. I love you. Like woah. And psst- if Charlie and I should ever NOT work out....call me. *winky*
