30 Days Of Truth: {DAY TWO}

30 Days Of Truth
{Day Two}
Something you love about yourself

As I crawled into bed last night [well, this morning], I started pondering what I'd post for today. Something I love about myself..hmmm Something I love about myself...*scratches head* In all honesty, there's a lot that I like about myself. Maybe even love. But one things for sure.. I love that I'm a nice person.

Not just "oh, she's nice." But I'm genuinely nice. Sure, if you've seen my bad or mean side you're probably laughing really hard and thinking I'm a liar. But this I know to be true: I have a hard time being mean to anyone or anything that isn't mean to me. Back me into a corner and I'll show my teeth. But back on topic...

Charlie is always commenting on how nice I am. Usually it's in a situation that doesn't require me to be nice. Like on the phone with customer service reps for any given company or service. You know when they ask how I'm doing? I tell them and then ask how they're doing. This usually takes them by surprise. I mean, life sucks for them. Think about it- usually people are only calling to bitch and moan about something. They're not the ones who screwed up your bill or are collecting your student loan payments. It's just their job.. Okay! [And yes, I woke up to Sallie Mae calling for my payment on my loan this morning. I wasn't happy about it, but it wasn't her fault.]

Or like when I'm at a restaurant or any other place where people serve me. I work in that same industry. I understand how stressful it is. So I try really REALLY hard not to be one of the customers *I* hate serving. Or like at work when people are being ridiculously difficult or high-maintenance, I do it all with a smile. Not because I really like my job and need the money [though those are both true], but because they're either A) super ignorant or B) having a bad day and taking it out on me. And I deal with a fair amount of both.

Or like when someone asks for my help or directions. Or when a meth addict on my bus asks to use my phone. Then asks for me to dial the number because she's too high to figure out how to dial. LOL Yes this did happen to me...

These are all just different examples of my niceness. I've had people tell me that I'm nice so it's not like I'm pulling this out of thin air. [Why is it so hard to talk about yourself in good light?] I love that I'm a nice person. We need more nice people in this world. I think everyone would be a lot happier if we offered more grace and mercy to our neighbor and strangers all over.

I love being nice.

  5. WOw this is a cool series. I agree with you about the phone thing. The callers always ask how I'm doing but when I ask them it takes them a second. I used to work in a call center, so I always try to be nice to them. Hey I got an award for ya!
